Shred Capacity Explained

When buying a paper shredder, one element to take into concideration is the machine’s capacity. If you are simply looking for a personal shredder for home use (or a small office), then this won’t be so much of an issue and you will probably be fine with entry standard which tends to be around 6 to 8 pages shredded at a time.

If however you are looking to purchase one for a busy office environment, you can find shredders that will feed upwards of 25 sheets at a time. Also these larger capacity shredders can often be used continuosly which is an important concideration to again if your buying for corporate use. The vast majority of paper shredders are designed to be used intermitantly. If you do use one of these shredders coninuously, you risk the machine temporarily shutting down or even worse burning out the motor. This is known as the shredder’s run time and can usually be found if you look throught the model specs.
